Everyone has their own opinions about our Nation's Government; many people do not like it, but why don't they do anything to change it? Maybe because they do not know how to go about doing so, or maybe because they think that political officials do not care what the public has to say. My question is, does the government really reflect our Nation's public opinion? My answer is no! According to the Pew Research Center "About four-in-ten (41%) say they followed news about the economy very closely last week, while 30% say they followed news about the elections very closely," i think this means that the public's number one concern is still the strength our our economy, Yet politicians are arguing over the issue of having homosexuals in the armed forces. This is a small issue that i think should be put on the back burner until much larger problems are solved, lets say for example, the unemployment rate. In may 2010, the Pew Research Center reported that the public's views for Congress's priorities; 81% said the job situation, 67% said the country's energy needs, 59% said immigration policies, 54% said Financial Regulation, and 32% said climate change. Those are the top 5 issues that the public says are very important for our government handle. No where in there does it say that we should be worrying about gays in the military or public health care! More people are worried about CLIMATE CHANGE then PUBLIC HEALTH CARE! To me this shows that the government doesn't reflect the public voice at all. i think that the politicians are wasting their time arguing over such insignificant issues, that they are missing the chance to change something that will really help our nation out. I believe that this is the type of stuff that make the general public think that our government is incompetent, and make you feel like there is nothing you can do, at least that is how I feel.

I agree that government does not reflect the views of Americans. I agree that government is worried about gays in the military and public health care instead of the job situation and immigration policies. Many Americans are not worried about public health care, instead they want more jobs. Government needs to listen change its priorities.
